There’s little to understand when it comes to coffee and the way coffee farmers grow and process their crops. Monoculture is a word you’ll probably come across when reading about sustainability and coffee. Here we briefly try to make you more familiar with the word.

What is monoculture?
Monoculture is the term for an agricultural system based on growing only one crop on the same piece of land year after year. In so-called monoculture, where only one crop, coffee, is grown and almost all other trees and plants are removed. It depletes the soil and effectively stops natural biodiversity and wildlife.
