Nespresso
There are probably not many people who don’t know Nespresso and the universe that presents itself when you walk into one of the coffee giant’s flagship stores. They’ve managed to break through with single-serve coffee, and in a way have also helped sprinkle coffee culture on ordinary homes around.

What is Nespresso?
Nespresso was founded in 1986 by food manufacturer Nestlé with a vision to make it possible and easy to brew the perfect cup of espresso. Nespresso revolutionised the coffee market and the way coffee is brewed. They invented these little capsules that go into machines – and then brew an easy cup of coffee.
Nespresso was the first on the market with coffee capsules, and with the invention they have created a large and loyal customer base. Nespresso launched its first four varieties of coffee capsules and two machines in 1989, which were tested and introduced in Switzerland, Japan and Italy. To this day, Nespresso coffee machines have moved into many homes around the world and Nespresso continues to develop their collections of both capsules and machines. Of course, there’s also the equipment that helps steam milk, so you can also pretend to be a barista and brew darlings like lattes and cappuccinos.
Biodegradable and organic coffee capsules from ØNSK
Nestlé once had a patent on their capsules. They no longer do. That’s why you’ll find capsules in many different places. Also here at ØNSK. However, we believe ours stands out from the crowd – for a number of reasons:
- Our capsules are biodegradable and can be composted
- Our capsules contain organic coffee that is grown with respect for nature and wildlife around
- Our coffee is roasted in a micro-roastery in Copenhagen
