What is the World Barista Championship?

The World Barista Championship (WBC) is the successful international coffee competition produced annually by World Coffee Events (WCE). The competition focuses on promoting excellence in coffee, advancing the barista profession and engaging a worldwide audience with this annual championship.

Every year, more than 50 competitors each prepare four espressos, four milk drinks, lattes or cappuccinos, and four original signature drinks in fifteen minutes.

WCE-certified judges from around the world assess the taste of the drinks served, cleanliness, creativity, technical skills and overall presentation. The ever-popular signature drink gives baristas the chance to stretch their imaginations and impress the judges’ palates to prove their coffee knowledge.
